The Bookish Book

The Bookish Synopsis

Chelsea's more comfortable strapped onto her wakeboard on Lake Tahoe than laced into platform espadrilles - or flirting with Todd, the adorable watersports instructor she's been crushing on for years. So instead she concentrates on winning this summer's Northwest Extreme Watersports Competition. That is, until Sebastian, a hot Brazilian tennis prodigy, wakes her up to the fact that she can get a boy. But can she get the one she really wants, even if she's competing against him for the gold?

My Bookish Idea

Waking Up To Boys is surprisingly enjoyable. Why surprising? Because judging by its cover and synopsis, I thought it would most probably be about some spoilt-brat who whines on and on throughout the whole book. I have an amazingly high tolerance for characters like these although at times, I feel an overwhelming urge to slap that annoying character.

Chelsea is okay, if not likeable. She's our average, insecure teenage girl who wishes that her crush would like her back. Most girls would be able to relate to her as to why boys can be so clueless at times.

I like the chemistry between Chelsea and Todd. Yes, there is chemistry even in books, not just in TV shows. Hailey Abbott is amazing with making their relationship real and relatable.

If you're looking for a book that has simple prose and easy to read, Waking Up To Boys would be a good choice. Hailey Abbott is indeed an author to watch out for!
