Today's book is FLIPPED. I simply love this book ever since I first read it 3/4 years ago. Its a delight from cover to cover (and i mean COVER as the book's appearance itself is eye-catching).

Its the story of Juli Baker and Bryce Loski. Juli falls head over heels for the blue-eyed new boy in town when she first lays eyes on him when they were 7. Puppy love was the very definition of Juli, as we see her gush about him and do absolutely everything to catch his attention. Bryce being a boy at the age of 7 detests the attention as 'girls are gross'; especially one who's determined to kiss him. Bryce lives across the road from the Bakers whose family were complete opposites of his own. The Loski's were rich, the Bakers were not. The Loski's were stiff, the Bakers embraced everyone and everything. The only person who acts as Bryce's mentor is his grandfather, Chet who comes to live with them. Bryce learns to understand Juli through Chet who has befriended the little girl.

But through a series of events starting from 2nd Grade to 8th Grade, Bryce finds that he has lost Juli's interest while realising he has grown feelings towards her. His perspective of Juli Baker has completely 'flipped', thus stemming the title of the book.

The book isn't sappy or ridiculous. Its a fresh look at young love (or lack thereof) showing both Juli's and Bryce's point of view. The ending is not the classic 'lets get together now that we like each other' but leaves room for growth of the two characters. The story may be led by the kids but the adults are scene-stealers. Chet and the Baker parents advice both Juli and Bryce in understanding each other and themselves, which even the reader can take to heart.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. And for the first time, I'm rating the book 10/10.

SIDENOTE: this book is being made into a movie which I am very excited about. Here's the trailer (don't worry no spoilers. The trailer doesn't give anything away but those who have read the book will enjoy seeing memorable scenes come to life):
